Woman Spends Over 4,000 Hours To Knit Sweaters For Abandoned Dogs

What do you like to do for fun? Hobby knitting is making a huge comeback, especially among the younger crowd, but that isn’t to say there aren’t cool knitters outside the youngsters. For example, Jan Brown has spent more than 4,000 hours knitting for a charity that is both cool and near to her heart. She has made over 300 Christmas sweaters for dogs.

The 52-year-old woman is from Seaburn, UK, and is leading the way for a new UK trend!  She’s helping out dogs in need, homeless or abandoned, and making a fashion statement while she’s at it. Hopefully no dogs in the UL will have to freeze in the cold winter months.

Each of the sweaters can take upwards of 20 hours to finish. She has been working for five years and has made Santa Claus outfits, woolly antlers amongst other things. She does this all out of the goodness of her heart. For dogs in need, the just like their new gear!

She reconditions old blankets into coats, as well as hand knits all of the items. She’s spent a lot of time doing this, but says it was all worth it. She started knitting very early, and after making a few coats for her greyhounds, knew she had to continue.

Plus, it was an amazing way to help the animal shelters.” Some dogs have very thin fur, and the cold during the winter really affects them. Putting a coat or mittens on your dog helps to keep them warm during walks in the winter!
