Cat Found Covered In Purple Has Grown Back His Glorious Gray Coat

When Smurf was 7 weeks old, he weighed only 1 lb. 10 oz. Someone had covered him in purple dye. It also looked like he had been attacked by another animal.

Smurf was rescued and taken to Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City, California. The staff worked hard to remove the dye, but some of it just wouldn’t come off.

No one was sure that Smurf would survive, but with time and a lot of love, he improved. In just a few weeks, the purple spots were fading, and his gray fur was coming in.

Before Smurf moved into his foster home, he met Wanda. Wanda was found shivering next to a garbage can, she was blind and starving. Smurf and Wanda were put together in the same cage because there was no room for Wanda. It was an easy choice to put the two of them together because they were both young kittens.

Since they had both been through an ordeal, the staff thought they could comfort each other – and they did! Wanda and Smurf became very close friends! They snuggled the moment they met and haven’t stopped!
