Mighty Leopard Spots A Baby Baboon, What She Does Next Will Drop Your Jaw

We bring you the eye-opening moments of one of the best movies that an animal lover shouldn’t miss- The Eye of the Leopard by Dereck and Beverly Joubert. This clip tells the story of a leopard tending to a day old baby baboon and protecting him from a pack of hyenas. Awry as it sounds, it is true.

So why was the baby baboon in the middle of the jungle alone? In this twisted tragedy, the leopard actually killed the baby baboon’s mother and the terrified little one hid and stared at the leopard while she moved his mother’s body.

Something overpowering came over the leopard when she saw the baby baboon underneath the carcass. An immobilizing motherly love came over her as she no longer wanted to kill the baby baboon.

Juggling between her instincts to kill and emotions to nurse, the leopard started mothering the baby and teaching him how to climb trees. But it seems like, the baby was still terrified, naturally, but the leopard meant no harm, at all.

When the leopard saw hyenas circling around, forgetting her own primary instincts of going for the kill when angered, she immediately relocated the baby to a safer place, a higher branch on the tree.

The video ends with the leopard caressing and nursing the baby baboon like a mother would. It is definitely going to take some time for these two to understand each other’s sounds, but their hearts truly comprehend.

Even the leopard was unaware of the new motherly emotions she had for a baby baboon.
