Cats are the true rulers of the internet. Indeed, many of us spend far too much time pretending to work when we’re actually just watching an endless stream of cute cat videos online. But while there have been some adorable online felines that have had their moment in the spotlight in the past, this beautiful boy may just beat them all.

The cat in question is Coby, a British shorthair with a pure white coat. The breed, however, more commonly has a grey coat and a coppery tint to their eyes. Coby, then, is clearly a little different from other cats of his type. But it is another more remarkable feature that really sets him apart.

Coby’s unusual feature is so extraordinary, in fact, that he has become an Instagram celebrity. What’s more, his owner, Rebecca Schefkind, started the account as a joke. However, Coby quickly built an online following that was worth taking very seriously.

You see, as of December 2017, Coby has over 1.1 million Instagram followers and 300,000 likes on Facebook. It’s an incredible feat given that he’s only been online since 2015. When you take a look at his adorable pictures, though, you can soon see why people are eager to see more.

And Schefkind jokingly recalled the moment that she went “full-on crazy cat lady” on her blog. She told the Daily Express, “After 150,000 followers, as well as free food and supplies from sponsors, I started to take it slightly more seriously.”

When she’s not helping Coby to be an internet sensation, Schefkind works as an art director. And she’s worked with some famous brands, too. Yes, her career kicked off with Landor Associates where she worked with huge brands like Captain Morgan, Smirnoff and Marlboro. Schefkind then moved to Mcgarry Bowen, working with even more big names like Reebok, Verizon and 7UP.

Schefkind currently works in San Francisco with Cutwater, and her portfolio includes incredible artwork created for everything from company reports to kid’s TV. So, she’s pretty well prepared to take on the task of being a famous-cat owner. But just what is it that makes Coby stand out from the crowd? Well, if you’d not guessed by now, it’s his extraordinary eyes.

Yes, many admirers have quickly become besotted with Coby’s bright blue eyes that shine like sapphires. In an interview with Time, Schefkind thinks back to the day that the two first met. “I fell in love with his blue eyes and fluffy white coat,” she said. “He fell asleep in my arms and the rest is history.”

And it seems the famous feline has quite the personality, too. Yes, Coby’s Instagram account describes him as being “beautiful on the outside [and] hungry on the inside,” while Schefkind told the Huffington Post, “He loves to follow me around and sleeps on my pillow every night.” And his hobbies? “Surprisingly, he loves playing in water,” his owner added. That certainly explains the many pictures of Coby in or around sinks and baths, then – who would have thought that a cat would love water so much?

Some of Coby’s other interests, meanwhile, apparently include enjoying tuna and playing with feathers. In addition, Coby and Schefkind also often refer their followers to sponsored products. And Coby recently worked with Purevax Pure Protection, a rabies vaccine for cats. In fact, the superstar kitty even featured on the organization’s home page.

As part of the campaign, Coby teamed up with the company to promote #WorldRabiesDay. Indeed, a message was posted to the cat’s Instagram followers stating, “#WorldRabiesDay is coming up, and I’ve teamed up with the Purevax team to send a friendly meow to every feline and human about the importance of vaccination.”

Coby’s good work doesn’t stop there, though. You see, the fantastic feline has also launched a T-shirt campaign which supports local animal shelters. The campaign uses the hashtag #CobyFierce and features a design based on Coby’s own startling features.

“I started #CobyFierce to show my love for all my amazing human friends and to support all my fellow furry friends,” the T-shirt’s description read, apparently quoting Coby. He went on to describe his style, writing, “It’s all in the eyes. Strut confidently with my new, limited-edition collection. And make every street your catwalk.”

Coby and Schefkind subsequently designed another T-shirt with a design that read “Mr. Right Meow,” too. And the feline’s face once again featured in the graphic. After all, who could pick anyone else over this handsome face?

What’s more, Coby also provides life advice, and some of it may be pretty smart. “Find someone who looks at you the way I look at food,” read the caption on one of his Instagram posts. And the cat has also been known to ponder some big, existential questions. “What am I doing with my lives?” he asked.

Coby certainly stands out online, but it’s his eyes that make him special. There are, however, plenty of other celebrity animals on the net and some even have peepers that are almost as mesmeric as those of the British shorthair. Competing with Coby in this field are Jupiter the cat and Odin, a wolf hybrid, both of whom have also attracted attention for their stunning eyes.

However, from his smart manner to his winged-eyeliner good looks, Coby is a step above – he really is model material. Indeed, the superstar kitty happily wears clothes, and he even poses like a pro. It’s little wonder, then, that he’s the go-to cat for sponsorship deals.

Yes, fans and sponsors alike just can’t get enough of the fabulous feline. And when Coby reached one million followers on Instagram in March, 2017, he put on his party hat to celebrate. What’s more, of those one million plus Coby fans, there are some who are very talented. Indeed, Coby has received copious amounts of artwork from fans.

Moreover, Coby has even been praised by The Shorty Awards, the annual social media awards. “The unique British shorthair poses for iconic photos in backdrops that match his snowy-white coat, while his striking sky-blue eyes, pink nose and triangle ears pierce through the ethereal surroundings,” read a description published by the awards.

Coby’s story isn’t over yet, though. Indeed, the feline is just at the beginning of his career as an internet celebrity – and there’s sure to be much more in store for this eye-catching cat. Now, excuse us while we get lost in Coby’s beautiful blue eyes for hours on end…
