Woman Meets Daughter 52 Years Later Saying “From The Time I Conceived Her, I Wanted Her”

As Mother’s Day is approaching, you’re probably thinking about all the ways you can show your mom just how much you appreciate her.

But while gifts are nice, all one mom wanted was to be able to see her daughter for the first time in 52 years.

Back in 1965, Donna Pavey, who was then 18, gave birth to her daughter, Sharon. What should have been a joyous occasion turned to heartbreak after Donna’s mom forced her to give her baby up for adoption, in the belief that she wasn’t ready to be a mom.

“From the time I conceived her, I wanted her,” Donna told ABC News. “I prayed and prayed and as soon as I saw [pictures of] the adopted mother I said, ‘Thank you, Lord, for taking care of my baby.'”

Donna had never heard from Sharon from that point onwards, though she thought of her often. Then one day, her daughter finally got in touch.

It turned out that Sharon hadn’t even known she was adopted until her adoptive parents had passed away, and she began to look into her family history.

After taking a DNA test, Sharon finally discovered who her real mom was- and the pair decided to arrange a meeting just two days later, which was filmed and shared on YouTube by KVUE.

The reunion video now has more than 900 thousand views and has touched the hearts of people all over the world.

In the video, 70-year-old Donna can be seen waiting outside her house in anticipation of her daughter’s arrival. She’s counting down the minutes on her phone, which proudly displays a photo of her daughter on the lock screen.

Although they have been in contact to arrange their meeting, Donna has never seen Sharon in the flesh since she was a baby.

52 years have passed since then, so there’s no telling how the reunion is going to go.

Since Donna had let Sharon go, she had married and given birth to two more children, both of whom were eagerly anticipating Sharon’s arrival. The two sisters told KVUE that they’ve been “looking forward to this day for over 30 years.”

“We just always felt like our mom was missing something,” they said, adding that they “often wondered where their sister was and what she could be doing.”

The three women pass their time waiting by looking at old photographs and reminiscing on their childhoods.

Donna is clearly full of nerves and excitement, and repeatedly asks her daughters to “text her and see how much longer we’ve got to wait!”

Finally, after hours of agony, and five decades of wondering, Donna is able to run into her daughter’s arms.

This is the first time they’ve touched in 52 years.

It’s an emotional moment as mom and daughter hug one another for the first time. Both of them are crying, and Donna tells her daughter, “I love you,” between sobs.

“My eyes, my mouth!” Sharon exclaims as she clocks the similarities on her mom’s face to her own.

The family waste no time making up for lost time, and even though they’ve never met before, it’s clear that the two are similar.

“I’m finally breathing a little,” Donna says. “I knew I would see her in heaven, but I never dreamed this day would come.”

“I feel like I’m floating, it’s surreal for me,” Sharon adds.

Now that they’ve been reunited, mom and daughter have vowed to never let their bond be broken again.
