&& The Gigantic Mystery Behind The Extinction Of Dinosaurs Is Finally Revealed

Most people around the world always wonder what exactly happened to dinosaurs, and how they just disappeared from planet Earth. For many years scientists have debated the explanation behind their extinction. But have the experts finally come up with a straightforward reason?

The Gigantic Mystery Behind The Extinction Of Dinosaurs – Revealed

Amazing Fossils

With ample amounts of fossil bones, teeth, trackways, and other amazing evidence that has shown that Earth was the kingdom for dinosaurs for at least 230 million years. But to date, not a single trace of dinosaur remains has been found in rocks younger than about 66 million years.

Tremendous Disappearance

How is it possible for a species so large and so magnificent to suddenly just disappear without a trace? Recently, some new research has been found that suggests that something extremely tremendous was the cause of this catastrophic event…

Prehistoric Mystery

There are so many theories as to how the death of dinosaurs took place. Some more well-known than others…for thousands of years and still today, scientists have been trying to figure out this prehistoric mystery. Many have also tried to put the pieces together by combining a few ideas but its quite evident that the dinosaurs were the unlucky recipients of something huge.

Ongoing Debate

This debate has been ongoing for an endless amount of years, as scientists dig up and discover new clues. They further develop new techniques to help them understand the past. But is it truly enough to help them determine what happened or at least prove one of the multiple theories correct.

New Research

A professor and his research team who are situated in London gathered excellent data by using the newest technology to collect 3D numerical simulations and geophysical information. Their conclusion…whatever entered the Earth’s atmosphere is why things are the way they are today.

Research Is Revealed

Part of the details that they were released stated that billions of sulfur were discharged into the atmosphere which then led to the sun being blocked. What happened next? An extremely destructive “nuclear winter” appeared which ultimately destroyed 75% of Earth’s plant and animal life.

Fires Around The World

A shocking chain of events further created uncontrollable fires everywhere in the world. But still, the big question remains, what or who was the culprit? It’s a huge mystery that many experts, paleontologists, and even the average person have tried to solve for several years.

Extinction Emerged

Sadly, for all the dinosaurs that did once exist, they experienced the worst possible scenario…they instantaneously became extinct by a massive force that hit Earth. That appears to have hit at the most perfect angle.

Completely Destructive

Indeed it was the most destructive asteroid ever! Experts have revealed that the angle in which the asteroid hit was around about 60° above the horizon, which then plummeted into what is known today as Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. 66 million years ago, this was the result of what caused the climate-changing gases to enter into the environment.

Hazardous Debris

Studies have shown that this was indeed among the worst-case scenarios as the impact emitted more hazardous debris into the upper atmosphere and scattered it everywhere which led to the ultimate fatalities.  This is what eventually caused a nuclear winter.

What Is A Nuclear Winter?

And what is a nuclear winter, you may ask? Well to put it simply, its something extremely severe and extended. The climatic cooling effect is speculated to take place after a widespread firestorm. Scientists suggest that all the fires were caused by the asteroid that slammed Earth.

Drop In Temperatures

The thick black clouds that are ultimately formed are able to block out all but a fraction of the Sun’s light for quite some time- as much as several weeks at a time. Surface temperatures would drop for a few weeks as a result. Leaving temperatures to as low as 11° to 22° C (20° to 40° F).

Things Could’ve Been Different

Thanks to the data that the scientists found on the structure of the 200 km wide crater in Mexico where they believed the asteroid hit, they believe that if perhaps this fatal asteroid had hit Earth at a slightly different angle, dinosaurs would still be around today. But is this information reliable for us to truly assume it correct?

Perfect Conditions

As it turns out, the conditions related to the impact were rather quite perfect, as the amount of vapor that was released into the air possibly the ideal amount. If the asteroid had come in from directly above, it’s likely that it would have destroyed more rock and emitted fewer gases into the atmosphere.

Was Planet Earth In Danger?

Well, we don’t know for sure, but research has also shown that perhaps planet Earth was already in danger before this astronomical occurrence took place. Growing evidence is pointing to some other kind of natural catastrophe that was an accomplice to the asteroid that struck Earth.

The World After Dinosaurs

However, not all was doom and gloom after the extension of dinosaurs. A remarkable story has surfaced as well, how life recovered from the asteroid impact. 75% of the living species were also wiped out back then, but plants and animals came back much faster than expected. The mammal population expanded at a rapid rate. But that was not all…

A New Species Discovered

At the beginning of 2020, a new species of feathered dinosaur had been discovered in China. The one of a kind specimen offered more information into what life may have been like all those years ago. It also shows the way in which dinosaurs evolved and the way in which they differ from birds.

Incredible Investigation

A Ph.D. student who conducted this research said the following which was related to his studies,  “The new dinosaur fits in with an incredible spread of feathered, winged animals that are closely related to the origin of birds”. He continues to say that studies like this show us many surprising, ancient facts that allow us to further classify and characterize birds and how we see them today.

Feathered Friends

As all of the non-bird dinosaurs died, the dinosaurs that are classified as birds did actually survive. Some types of birds did go extinct, but the families that led to modern birds managed to stay alive. At first, the survivors were small but over time these birds experience evolution and eventually developed into larger sizes. Which is for the most part the birds we know today. Its definitely spectacular to see what we are able to discover in this day and age, right?
