Being a loyal and dedicated employee, Charles Gibson never imagined he’d live to see the day his company turned on him. Unable to accept their decision to fire him, he plans his retaliation down to a tee, leaving everyone speechless.

15 years of playing the part of a perfect employee were about to come to a staggering and vicious halt.

DEVOTED TO A FAULT

Charles started working for the Forbes 500 automotive company in the 70s, moved up the ranks as a software engineer and management while saving the company millions of dollars with patents.

He planned on staying until he could at least make his pension. Little did he know that HR had different plans waiting for him.

SOMETHING IS REALLY WRONG HERE

As time progressed, Charles started noticing how almost all departments started replacing their long-time employees reaching the age of 60 with younger ones.

Almost as if by turn, the HR started turning up the heat on Charles, making his life harder day by day until he got called in.

FIRST ACCUSATION!

It was a normal working day for Charles when he got called into the HR office. Unaware of what could possibly be wrong, the HR lady started accusing him of not badging in and out the correct time, slowly alluding to the start of the end of his time there.

Charles was baffled by the accusation, but his confusion soon turned to anger.

With such a ridiculous accusation at hand, Charles demanded they provide him with evidence of some sort. As an engineer, punctuality and details were his pride and joy. It was impossible that he of all people would be late! His request made the HR lady go silent.

As he walked out of the office, he began to realize that he was their next target. His heart pounded as his hands clenched into fists. He was ready to fight.

ONE WEEK LATER

A week passed and HR failed to prove their claim. Charles clapped back saying “Of course, you can’t. I have been driving the corporate carpool bus for the last 15 years. I always have 16 witnesses on my clock in time and haven’t been late in 15 years.”

But HR was only warming up. They already had their next attack planned.

THE CHANGING FACTOR

Charles knew that if he didn’t plan his next move soon, he’d get sacked. Now, it was a race against time. . Suddenly, he remembered how a programmer facing a similar situation managed to get the money his company owed him by creating a problem that only he could solve.

His first step was targeting the HR’s company car. His plan then got halted when he got a call that would change everything.

A call from the Chief of Security pulled Charles out of his haze. Having been in this company for such a long time, he managed to build strong connections with employees from different departments.

After catching up, Charles invited him to lunch. Now, it was time to execute his grand plan.

SECOND ACCUSATION

It wasn’t long before Charles was called in for the second time. The HR then announced that he was getting fired for letting people into the building without badging. She turned her screen to Charles showing a video of him holding the door open for someone.

However, Charles had a response that would wipe her smug right off her face.

Charles held his composure at first, pointing out that the person he held the door open for was his best friend who has been working there since the 70s.

He had his foot cut off after having type 2 diabetes forcing him to use a wheelchair. He then proceeded to pull out videos of his own.

Unable to hold his composure for any longer, he spat “That is very interesting. Fine, then I hope you fire the CEO and yourself as well!”

He then played the video acquired through the Chief of Security that showed the HR lady holding the door for the CEO and his friend. Charles looked at her, knowing exactly where this would go.

Charles did not only stay till he got his pension, he also learned the importance of playing nice and smart. He might have been able to get what he wanted if he played things dirty, but the choice he made reshaped the way he saw a lot of things.

This very battle shaped his future in ways he could not have foreseen.

POST-PENSION

After receiving his pension, Charles quit his job and started his own company. In his retirement, Charles used the money from the pension to patent a new invention that would come to serve humanity and the environment.

He dedicated his expertise and time to make the world a better place with his invention that left everyone in awe.

A BETTER MAN FOR A BETTER WORLD

Charles’ invention aimed to desalinate seawater and provide solar energy. Currently, he has patents in America, India, China and is on the lookout for some capital to provide clean water and power to 3rd world countries.

He named his company Solucean. His daughter felt deeply affected by the entire situation and had a few things to say.

Charles’ daughter spoke up on the whole battle saying “companies care more about the bottom line than what their employees did for them.”

Charles is one of many people that has battled with such a situation, but his story stands to show that even with such situations there always will be a silver lining, in one way or another.
